Well, I'm back again! The flight was very long but then I should be used to it by now. Air New Zealand have started to put individual video screens into each seat so at least I was able to watch films and programmes when I wanted to. It's great to be back here. I arrived at Auckland at 5:45am on Thursday and was through Customs really quickly and then picked up my hire-car and was in Rotorua by 10:30am. I went out to the DZ and saw all my friends and shortly after lunch I was going up in the Fletcher to do a jump! We got to 12,000ft and then got put on hold for five minutes. Then we had to come back down in the plane! The weather had turned really nasty while we were up. I needed to check-in to my hostel so I headed back into town. The guys at the DZ did manage a couple of loads later that day but I wouldn't have jumped anyway as the wind was getting pretty heavy and I don't want to have my first jump in a while to be a battle to get back to the landing area! Since then the weather has stayed pretty bad. Mind you, this is relative to what the weather in the UK is like at the moment! It's actually pretty warm and sunny here, it's just that the wind is very strong and there's a lot of cloud around. The DZ is closed today as it's Christmas Day and of course the weather has been a whole lot better! I'm so pleased to be back in Rotorua. Everyone seems really pleased to see me. I'm staying in the same room at Treks that I had before and the staff here have made me feel so welcome again that it feels like coming home. I hope I'll have some jumping news to put up here shortly but until then "HAPPY CHRISTMAS".
Cheers, |
